Privacy Policy
For Polity+, our media and polity services, and this website.
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Polity+ is an independent, citizen-built civic-governance app that helps village and taluka-level leaders and citizens manage local administration — voter records, government scheme outreach, issue reporting, and elected-representative work. Polity+ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any Gram Panchayat, State Government, the Election Commission of India, or any other government body. This page explains what information the app collects, what we collect when we provide our media and polity services, why, and how it's protected.
Polity+ is operated by Median Polity Solutions, a sole proprietorship owned by Akash Daunde, with its place of business at At Post Somthane Nalwade Bk, Tal. Pathardi, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra 414102, India.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Phone number — used to sign you in and identify your account, verified by a one-time code sent to that number by SMS via Firebase Authentication.
- Name, gender, email (optional), address, and village/district/state — entered when you set up your profile, used to route you to the right local officials and government schemes.
- Photos — only if you use the in-app camera to attach evidence to an issue report or a profile picture; stored only if you choose to save it.
- Household and voter information — if you are a village or taluka-level leader, the records you enter for residents in the village(s) you represent (name, age, family details) to help you serve that community. A voter record may also carry a leader's own canvassing note on that household's likely support for outreach planning — this is never derived from anything recorded during actual polling-day activity, and never shared outside your own leadership team (see "Elections and campaign data" below).
- Citizen Profile details — if you complete your own Citizen Profile to check government scheme eligibility, you may provide age, land holding, ration card category, reservation category, religion, and gender, since several government schemes are means-tested on exactly these categories. This is entered voluntarily by you about yourself, used only to match you against scheme eligibility rules — it is never entered by a village leader on your behalf, and never shown on your household's general record that leadership can view.
- Community stakeholder contacts — for leaders, basic contact and engagement notes for local influential figures (e.g. a temple committee or school head) they choose to record. We deliberately do not collect or store caste, religion, or any "likelihood to vote"-style profiling field on these records.
- Issue reports and audit activity — what you report, and a log of key account actions (sign-ins, approvals) for accountability and to prevent abuse.
How your information is used
- To operate your account and show you the parts of the app relevant to your role (citizen vs. village leader).
- To let leaders coordinate local administration for their own village or ward only — a leader cannot see residents outside the area they represent.
- To connect citizens with applicable government welfare schemes.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. Polity+ has no ad network or third-party analytics/tracking SDK built in.
Where your information is stored
Data is stored using Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), hosted in the Mumbai (asia-south1) region, and protected by server-enforced access rules — a citizen's private records are never readable by another citizen, and a leader only ever sees residents of their own village or ward.
Leadership accounts
Leadership roles (Sarpanch, Deputy Sarpanch, Ward Member, Block/Taluka Leader, Activist) are self-registered by selecting your position when you set up your profile, and start with a 14-day free trial (see "Free trial, plans, and payments" below). In support cases, an account may instead be approved manually.
Free trial, plans, and payments
A new Leadership or Block/Taluka Leadership account starts with a 14-day free trial, started in the Polity+ Android app or web app, once per person. You are not charged during the trial, and no payment details are needed. Plan prices are listed on our Pricing page and in our Terms & Conditions; they are final prices.
Plans are paid through Razorpay, a payment gateway. Razorpay collects and processes your payment details (such as card, UPI, or bank details) under its own privacy policy; we never receive or store them. From Razorpay we receive what we need to deliver and support your plan: your name, email address, phone number, the plan and amount paid, the payment status, and the Razorpay payment ID. We store this with your account and in our records to switch on your plan, confirm it by email, send you a reminder before your plan period ends, handle refunds and complaints, and keep the accounting records the law requires.
Plans do not renew automatically. If a paid plan ends, the account's leadership access is restricted after the grace period, but no village, family, or other record data already entered is deleted as a result.
Elections and campaign data
Some leadership accounts use Polity+'s Election Management tools for campaign logistics — volunteer coordination, expense tracking, booth operations, and community outreach. Polity+ is a private software tool. It is not an instrument of the Election Commission of India or any state election authority, and using it does not by itself satisfy the Model Code of Conduct, candidate election-expenditure reporting, or any other obligation a candidate, party worker, or elected representative has under Indian election law — that responsibility stays entirely with the person or party using the tool.
Our Terms & Conditions prohibit using Polity+ for bribery, voter inducement, coercion, or unlawful caste- or religion-based electoral appeals. Data recorded to help a leader understand community needs (contact notes, reported issues, a canvasser's own judgement of a household's likely support) is never used to infer, record, or reveal how any individual actually voted — secrecy of the ballot is a legal requirement we design around, not a feature choice, and it is kept strictly separate from and never derived from anything recorded during actual polling-day operations.
Your rights under India's data protection law
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), you are a Data Principal and Median Polity Solutions (for Polity+) acts as the Data Fiduciary for personal data processed through the app. Depending on how your data was provided, you have the right to:
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it's being used;
- Request correction or completion of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Request erasure of data that's no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for;
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it — this doesn't undo processing already lawfully done before you withdrew;
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated;
- Raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (below), and if it isn't resolved, escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India.
Most processing here relies on the consent you give when creating your account or submitting information; a village or taluka leader recording constituency records as part of their public duties may rely on other legitimate grounds the Act recognizes for that kind of local administrative work.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and the data serves the purpose it was collected for, plus any extra period needed to meet a legal, tax, security, or dispute-resolution obligation. When neither applies any more, we delete or anonymize it. Village and family records a leader enters remain part of that village's administrative record even if the leader's own account is later closed, since that data belongs to the community's ongoing governance record, not to the leader personally.
Deleting your Polity+ account and data
To request deletion of your Polity+ account (operated by Median Polity Solutions) and its associated data, email medianpolitysolutions@gmail.com with the phone number registered on the account and a request to delete it. We fulfil verified requests normally within a few business days.
What gets deleted: your account itself, plus everything you personally submitted about yourself — your profile, your own self-registered household record, issues you personally reported, saved schemes, and diary entries.
What is kept: village or community records a Leadership-tier account entered about other residents while carrying out their public administrative duties remain part of that village's ongoing governance record even after the leader's own account is deleted — this data belongs to the community, not to the individual leader.
Automatic deletion of unused trials: a free-trial account that lapses and is never converted to a paid plan is automatically deleted, in the same way as above, 90 days after the trial expires — no request needed. This does not apply to paid plans: when a paid plan ends, records are kept, not deleted.
If something goes wrong
If a personal data breach occurs that's likely to affect you, we will take reasonable steps to contain and investigate it, and notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as required under the DPDP Act.
Account recovery
If you provide an email address, it is used solely as a backup way to recover your account (e.g. after reinstalling the app on a new device) — it is not used for marketing or shared with anyone else.
Your choices
- You can review and edit your profile information at any time from within the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data — see "Deleting your Polity+ account and data" above.
Children's privacy
Polity+ is intended for adult residents and local administrators, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Under the DPDP Act, processing a child's personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian — if you believe a child's data has reached us, contact our Grievance Officer below and we'll remove it.
Our media and polity services
Clients. When you enquire about or hire us for a service, we receive the details you send us: your name, phone number, email, organisation, place, project details and any material you share (such as photos, logos or text), plus payment records. We use them only to reply to you, prepare the quote, do the work, send invoices, and keep the accounting records the law requires. We share them only with people needed to do your work (for example a printer or a venue), and we never sell them.
Survey participants. When we run a survey, people take part only if they agree, and we tell them who is running it and why. We collect only what the survey needs. Names or phone numbers are collected only when needed (for example to avoid asking the same person twice) and are kept separate from the answers. Clients receive results only as totals and percentages, never one person's answers. Survey data is never sold, and is deleted or anonymized once the project is finished, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
Photos and videos. At events and shoots, we record only what the project needs and respect people who ask not to be filmed.
